Autumn Light 2, 32 x 31, Mixed Media on Canvas

This piece brings us very close to nature. It was created also in the old growth forest in Kentville NS where the pine trees were never cut in over 200 years. I abandoned any artistic surrealism by clearly defining the leafy warm foliage as it retreats over a rolling forest bed. The soft feathered pine branches contrast nicely against the more rugged strong structures of wood that together deliver a quiet serenity. I used muted colours in soft greens against saturated golden hues that vibrate silently when placed close to colours of blue. I felt the air moving gently left to right across my face and through the branches before me as it leaves quietly without a trace.
