RICHARDS Magician of Light and Colour Working at the National Gallery of Canada as their senior division manager for nearly 20 years was fundamental to my success as an artist. I was privileged to help design and supervise the installation of many exhibitions with artists from around the world. During that same period I perfected many new and innovative rendering techniques, some of which you see here today. |

It was only after studying Roger Sperry’s Nobel prize
winning work, “The Discoveries of the Cerebral Hemispheres”,
did I understand how to render magnificent shape, form, light and colour
in a way never seen before. Incorporating this knowledge creatively into
my art surprisingly gratified both hemispheres at the same time
resulting in an unusually high level of appreciative work.
My latest work is called a “Luminous Impression” This is a painting that exists as an impression made directly to canvas. Each are original works of art but not completely unique making them exceptionally affordable. I have personally been a working artist and master photographer for over 30 years. My goal has always been to further the appreciation of fine art in general and this has led to images that have a universal appeal no matter what your background or level of technical understanding. My collection is the result of a tireless pursuit of excellence which can be seen and felt in each work and for this privilege I am truly thankful. HOW TO USE MY ART GALLERY We all grow up loving art unconditionally, never worrying about technique, materials and how art should be rendered. The 'magic' crayon did our work. Children simply love art based on how it makes them feel. It is with this unusual fine-art background and a child-like spirit, that I have created this gallery for you. I believe it will bring a sense of wonder and magic into your life by allowing you to use remote lighting dimmers as a sorcerer would a magic wand, releasing the magician of light in you. You will feel the changing light interact holistically with the creative side of who you are. You will discover how this can fuel a thousand different paintings on a single canvas, allowing your imagination to run wild each time you see my work. Try to ignore the temptation to ask “How did you do that?” and “What mediums do you use”. You can read about that later. Right now it’s time to discover and appreciate art in a completely new way by focusing on what you think you see and know you feel. Let this be what you remember over the years to come each time you enjoy my work. Dan
